The Fifth Meeting of the Executive Steering Committee was held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, and was attended by representatives of the South American countries plus observers agencies and officials institutions that make up the Technical Coordination Committee (CCT) of IIRSA.
The objective of this meeting was to receive Fifth National Reports of the countries that make up the Initiative, which focused their reflections in three key areas: Strategic Vision for South American Physical Integration, Project Portfolio Management and convergence criteria in support Sectoral Integration Processes . In relation to these issues, delegations submitted proposals to complement the future strategies of the Initiative. In turn, during this meeting the document "Project Portfolio of Integration and Development Axes 2003" as a result of the implementation of the Indicative Planning Methodology was presented .
Also, the progress in the various activities of the GTE, continuing the topics discussed at the last meeting of the CDE, held on days 1, 2 and July 3, 2003 in Caracas, Venezuela were analyzed especially in relation to what is stated in section 10 - . Minutes of the meeting regarding the work in the Integration and Development Hubs (EID), regarding " the need to focus the prioritization of projects to improve prospects for achieving concrete results in the short term" , and for this advance review and sanction by the countries of the strategic vision and business of EID .
