Integration and Development Hubs
Territorial Planning within COSIPLAN is organized around the concept of Integration and Development Hub.
An Integration and Development Hub is a multinational territorial space involving specific natural resources, human settlements, production areas and logistics services. Transportation, energy and communications infrastructure serves as its link, as it facilitates the flow of people, goods and services, and information within this territorial space and from/to the rest of the world.
The Hubs made it possible to identify and agree upon infrastructure projects for integration purposes under a common vision for the twelve South American countries within the framework of an indicative territorial planning process.
On the basis of the economic, social and environmental characterization of the area of influence of the Hubs, a direct coordination of projects and their respective sites is sought. Ten Integration and Development Hubs have been defined:
