On October 15, the city of Buenos Aires hosted the II Meeting of the Working Group on the COSIPLAN Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Website, which was attended by the COSIPLAN Presidency Pro Tempore held by Chile, a representative from the UNASUR General Secretariat, and technical experts from the delegations of Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
During the meeting, the Working Group Coordination, which is under the responsibility of Argentina, presented a methodology for entering metadata. The countries represented at the event reported the progress made by them in the preparation of the geospatial data to be included in the GIS. Furthermore, several pending issues concerned with the COSIPLAN GIS feature catalogue were solved, and the Basic Technical Guidelines for the development of the COSIPLAN website were agreed upon.
The next steps include moving forward with the final version of the feature catalogue, the design of a template to enter metadata into GeoServer, the implementation of the Assistance of the Common Initiatives Fund of UNASUR to complete the Work Plan, and the preparation of a proposal concerning the Basic Technical Guidelines for the Development of the COSIPLAN website.
